Summer 2005

The Neuer Berliner Kunstverein approached Weißensee - School of Art to let a group of
students develop the communication design for a series of performance art events in
Berlin. Six international artists comment on the rewriting of history by national elites,
public amnesia and memory. A fleeting element is common to all these works.

The graphical motive of diaries, order forms and exercise books was chosen as a main
theme, to evoke the ambivalent notion of writing or its absence.

The use of a bright yellow, which is a strong signal, but also fades away fast, leaving just
the red lineation behind, was also decided in accordance to the theme of the event.

We developed a series of posters, a postcard with removable stickers and a booklet that
served both as catalogue and flyer.

Interestingly, posters that were glued over ours just fell off once the temperature
dropped, making the posters reappear in the public space, long after the events they
advertised for were finished - it fit the whole concept so well that we were very
happy with it.
